About Dr David Holmes
Dr David Holmes is a highly skilled ophthalmologist specialising in glaucoma and cataract surgery. He is passionate about providing high quality patient centered compassionate care.
David grew up in regional New South Wales and then trained in medicine at the University of New South Wales and completed a Masters of Ophthalmology at the University of Sydney. Following this he moved to Victoria where he completed his Ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. Having grown up in regional NSW, he is excited to be able to improve access to high level sub-specialty care to areas outside capital cities.
After comprehensive general ophthalmology training, Dr Holmes moved to the UK to undertake glaucoma sub-specialty fellowship training at the renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital London where he trained in the management of all forms of glaucoma including advanced surgical techniques and complex cataract surgery. He has authored a number of peer reviewed articles and presented at multiple international conferences.
He holds public appointments with Barwon Health and the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and is an active member of the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. He is also actively involved in teaching both medical students and junior doctors.
Alongside his advanced sub-specialty skills in glaucoma, he treats a wide variety of medical and surgical diseases of the eye such as cataract, age related macular degeneration, and diabetes.
